Some containers, such as gable top cartons, aseptic prisms and chipboard cartons, require additonal support for palletizing and distribution. Corrugated risers can be inserted in between rows of products in order to provide the stacking strength required for palletizing. Another option is to place u-baords on the ends of the pack to protect the cartons and give the strength needed for stacking. This eliminates the need for costly RSCs and traditional methods such as plastic milk crates. For gable top cartons, corruagted risers and shrink wrap does away with the costs associated with transporting, sanitizing and theft of plastic milk crates.
